with Phoenix Hustle (THIS WAS A ONE TIME EVENT-IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED)

Join us for Hustle dancing (and West Coast Swing)! You do not have to bring a dance partner. Come alone or with a friend--we will make you feel welcome.  This is a one-time event, not weekly.

7:00 to 7:30 pm  Novice Hustle Lesson -- with Laina Lee
7:30 to 8:00 pm Intermediate Hustle Lesson -- with Val and Lynde Hunt (Must know hustle basics to participate in the lesson)
8:00 – 10 or 11 pm   Hustle Dance -- DJ Girl Wonder spins the very best of Contemporary Hustle and West Coast Swing mixed with Funk, R&B, Classic Disco, Salsa, Cha Cha, and Night Club 2-Step
Admission: $5 for all: includes lesson and dance

Hustle featured on "So You Think You Can Dance"

2009 Update: Will we see Hustle on "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2009? How many times do we have to stomach Doriana Sanchez's "Disco" choreography? Hopefully, viewers realize that her version of "Disco" is NOT related to HUSTLE!

The dance called "Hustle" (a partner dance) was featured on July 11, 2007 on the hit television show "So You Think You Can Dance", choreographed by Maria Torres.

For a number of years, Hustle dancing has not received its dues on national television. Since the days of Dance Fever, Soul Train, Disco Step By Step, Soap Factory, Don Kirshner, Soul Alive...... television has forgotten Hustle. In many cases, it has been misrepresented. Some viewers relate Hustle to a dated form of Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta polyester suits and poses, afro wigs, or line dancing.

"So You Think You Can Dance" recruited Hustle Hall Of Fame members Maria Torres along with Kenny Gonzalez to teach and choreograph a New York Style Hustle routine for two of the remanding 14 contestants. The routine was awesome! See it: Lacey and Kameron hustle
